KRANK GEAR USED: Dirty Valve Bass Head, Basszilla Bass Cabinet
In 2010 NY-based three piece band Addicted To Pain released their first self titled E.P. on Megaforce Records. The four song CD has received great reviews by fans, magazines and critics from all over the world. The legendary Alex Perialas at Pyramid Studios in Ithaca, NY both recorded and mixed the E.P. Alex produced such massive thrash metal acts like Anthrax, Testament, Overkill, S.O.D and M.O.D just to mention a few. ATP will head back to the studio after the tour to record a full length CD in Spring 2011.
Bob Horvath (Bass player for ATP): “As far as Krank’s Dirty Valve Bass Head and Basszilla cabinet goes I was dying to get my hands on them. I was one of the first to get the setup after being on a waiting list for over 4 weeks. Right before I was leaving for tour Chris calls me and says “The Basszilla is on it’s way to you right now!” What perfect timing! So on tour I was able to give it a run for it’s money and it literally blew me away. The mids and bass are perfect, and since I don’t care for a lot of treble, I turned it down and turned up the growl knob for an awesome sound. When the bass needed a solid midrange kick to the chest that’s where the the mid punch feature came in and the 800W power supply really brought it! The sweep effect is something that I never experienced before and gives the machine a totally new and unique sound so you can imagine I had a lot of fun tweaking the E.Q…I loved it! I usually tune from low to high C,F,A# and D# so the bigger the bass sound the better and the Basszilla cabinet’s 2x12s and 4x10s slam with low end along with the excellent mids and highs are a super KranK creation. Leo Curley {lead guitar and vocals) uses Krankenstein amps so it’s a great mix both live and in the studio.”
