KRANK GEAR USED: Krankenstein
Bob Rock is one of the most commercially successful producers in the last couple decades. Artists he’s worked with include Motley Crue, Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Cher, The Cult, David Lee Roth, Skid Row, Veruca Salt, Nina Gordon, The Offspring, 311, Our Lady Peace, The Tragically Hip, The Tea Party, Lostprophets, American Hi-Fi and Simple Plan.
Rock’s best known for his work with Metallica after he was chosen to pruduce their “Black Album” after the band’s iconic admiration of Mötley Crüe’s 1989 album Dr. Feelgood. The Black Album was released in 1991 and subsequent followups produced by Rock included Load (1996), ReLoad (1997), Garage Inc. (1998) and S&M (1999). Metallica once again tapped Rock to produce their 2003 album St. Anger, in which he played bass guitar due to the departure of bassist Jason Newsted.
Rock also produced The Offspring’s eighth studio album, Rise and Fall, Rage and Grace, which was released on June 17, 2008 and was their first album in four-and-a-half years. The Krankenstein was used as part of the overall guitar sound on the record.

At the age of 8, I inherited a bass from my uncle, who died tragically in a motorcycle accident in San Leandro, CA.....
Hate this guy
Hahaha I’m pretty sure The Cult, Metallica and Motley Crue love him tho…
I dont like him on the sole fact that he changed metallica so much. BUT, he did make them alot of money.
Pretty sure it wasn’t Bob who changed Metallica but the death of there bassist and songwriter Cliff. …And Justice For All was only great because they still had the songs written just not yet recorded, they had to run out of his material eventually.
Had a chance to meet you and hang out at the studio when you recorded my ex band mate Loren Molinair, but couldn’t break away from my studio owner crap in Colorado. Made it out to be in the Chain of Fools video and learned much from Penelope. Wondered the best place to go to read about your mic techniques. Than my specialty but would love to learn from you. Last record I used 9 mic and 4 amps and a ton of speakers on my bass sound. I cut 120 guitar parts and 80 part vocals. This new 2 disk project for myself will make that look like child’s play. Best wishes and keep Bob rockn’. paul
Bob Rock did not change Metallica. He just made them sound better and work better. They wrote all the songs on the black album and the rest.
I wish he would produce a record for my band.
