KRANK GEAR USED: Krankenstein, Krankenstein Cab
“Dimebag” Darrell Abbott, the legendary Pantera/Damageplan guitarist was the man who helped put Krank Amps on the map. A longtime user of solid state amps but being the true rebel he was, Dime had grown tired of his tone and saw a tiny ad from a fledgling amp company named Krank in the back of a guitar magazine and decided to call the company. Thinking it was a “krank” call (pun completely intended!) we dismissed the call only to have him call back and for us to realize it really was the man! An Rev amp was sent out to him to try, and blown away by the tone, he asked for a second amp believing that maybe the first one was a fluke….it wasn’t. After that a trip to the Krank factory ensued and the rest is history!
Dime’s Krank signature model is the Krankenstein, and his tone continues to live on with the same tone circuit embodying the Krankenstein+ and Krankenstein Jr. models. Dime was a larger than life character and his signature amp tone has graced records ranging from music titans as Metallica and the Offspring to some of today’s more popular artists such as Suicide Silence, Amon Amarth and In This Moment. Dime lives!!!!

Boring, really……!!!!!!!
Always the same, who can play 1000 notes in 2 seconds.
Dimebag and countless lots of others so called heroes
are shredding in the same way.
No really good tone, loudness is all, tons of gain,
fizzy thin and scoopy tone.
you what??? dimebag was the oposite of that, man. he was all about soul and feel rather than extreme showing off. yeah, he played fast at times, but not to show off – it was to give that feeling of freakin adrenaline and power that you get from pure speed!
RIP DIME – KING OF METAL GUITAR!!!
