Jeff Duncan started playing guitar at the age of 10 and first cemented his reputation in the history of heavy metal as a co-founder and guitarist of ODIN. Formed in 1980, ODIN unleashed a powerful sound that bridged the gap between the purest form of metal and a star-driven image without compromising the bands omnipotent edge. Playing to packed houses all over the Southern California region, ODIN sold out every major venue in Los Angeles. The bands stronghold on the scene spawned a bidding war between several major labels. By 1988, Duncan’s stature took on another dimension when he joined heavy metal stalwarts Armored Saint. Today, Jeff remains a definitive member of Armored Saint in which his role has expanded to co-writer on such classic cuts as “Last Train Home” and the title track to what is considered by many fans to be the bands finest hour, Symbol of Salvation.
As co-founder and lead singer/guitarist of DC4, Jeff Duncan balances writing and recording with a heavy live presence. Duncan’s prowess as a performer continues to be seen and heard on stages across North America and Europe. With over 1000 live shows to his credit, the guitarist and singer has shared the stage with Dio, Scorpions, Slayer, Saxon, Black Label Society, Megadeth, Judas Priest, Whitesnake, W.A.S.P., Motorhead and Queensryche, among numerous others. Duncan’s recorded output is no less impressive. As an artist he appears on more than 10 discs combined; and his fretwork can also be heard on tribute records to Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osbourne, and Iron Maiden.
Duncan’s concurrent involvement with Armored Saint is exceeded only by a steadfast commitment to DC4; and it is DC4 that reveals Jeff Duncan in an unadulterated light of hardcore focus and powerful, sometimes painful, honesty. Jeff Duncan is a rare display of magnetism and soul as someone with a brutal penchant for rendefining the boundries of hard rock and heavy metal. Coming from a musical family (his father, Lanny Duncan, wrote the 1962 hit gold record “Let’s Go”) his intractable dedication to the music is neither ephemeral nor illusory, but rather based on personal sacrifice for a certain integrity that lies at the foundation in a declaration that mirrors the cold, hard value of this one-of-a-kind recording artist. His passion is defined in his own words: “Playing music is the number one priority, the most important thing to me; and there’s nothing I will ever allow to impede, take control, or deny me of it.”
Jeff Duncan endorses ESP Guitars, Krank Amplification, Sfarzo Strings and My Sound/4 Star Wire Cables.
