Congrats to Krank endorsee In This Moment as their new release “A Star-Crossed Wasteland” debuted this week at #40 on the Billboard charts! This is the band’s third album and their highest chart debut, selling 10,500 copies it’s first week. In This Moment are currently out on the Mayhem Tour with Korn, Rob Zombie, Lamb of God and Five Finger Death Punch and the tour is selling briskly as well.

Formed in 2004, Italian deathcore band Five Days of Rain become one of the most neckbreak young acts of the scene.

Their debut album, called “Taste My Breath After The Fallout”, will be out September 2010 via Rising Records.
They reach the attention creating a personal style and songwriting, which is in the middle between American old school deathmetal and Swedish melodic metal, with neckbreck breakdown. Fabrizio and Enrico said “these are the most loud, heavy and sick heads we have ever played, our new REVOLUTION + heads will improve our groove and our sound”.

On July 13th CA metallers In This Moment release their newest record “A Star-Crossed Wasteland” via Century Media Records. The band kicks off the album release in high fashion with a spot on this summer’s Mayhem tour that also features Korn and Five Finger Death Punch amongst others. The release is the band’s third album and is a little bit of a return to their early sound on the breakthrough debut “Beautiful Tragedy”, with singer Maria Brinks bringing her trademark screams back to the forefront along with their melodic singing.

Guitarist Chris Howorth sports both a Krankenstein+ and Rev+ in his rig but is getting ready to add in the Nineteen80 into his repertoire starting early on their Mayhem dates and new bassist Kyle Konkiel is rocking the new Basszilla cabs and will be one of the first artists to throw down with the upcoming Dirty Valve D-800 bass head!

Krank’s first entry into the bass cab market, the Basszilla, is an 8×10 sized cab but with 2×12 in the top chamber, 4×10 in the bottom, with each chamber capable of being run full range or individually! The Basszilla has an extremely punchy yet crystal clear tone by combining an air moving 4×10 lower chamber with a crisp and cutting 2×12 top chamber, adding brilliant clarity to your bass tone in even the most dense rock mix. Constructed of a 13-play Baltic birch shell with a maple baffle board for increased high end response, the Basszilla cab features four premium Eminence BP 102 10” and two 12 LFA 12” speakers giving the cab a 4 ohm load capable of handling over 1600W!

Krank’s long-awaited line of bass amps, Dirty Valve series, finally arrives with their first entry into the bass market, the monsterous D-800. A hybrid head featuring an all tube preamp coupled with an 800W Class D power section, the Dirty Valve D-800 takes our high gain approach in making amplifiers into the realm of bass and creates a powerful yet diverse rock bass amp. Loud and toneful, players can achieve warm clean sounds to fat, overdriven tones and everything in between! Features include a master volume, gain, 3-band eq, Krank’s unique “Sweep” parametric eq function that allows players to dial in and fine tune punch frequencies, a Fat Growl that adds in a deep, wide fuzziness to the tone, Girth for extra low end, a Midpunch that revoices the amp into a classic, “dirty” rock tone, and a Brite function for added upper end. Other features include fx loop, lineout with level control that’s tapped directly from the preamp to send out “your tone” to the front of house or recording gear, dual speaker jacks, ground lift and worldwide voltage selector.

Queensryche guitarist Michael “Whip” Wilton became the first of Krank’s endorsees to visit the new factory in Chandler, AZ while on tour supporting their special “Cabaret” shows. Whip was instrumental in helping Krank develop the tube driven active effects loop on the Nineteen80 and tossed around some r&d ideas with the Krank team while hanging for a couple days prior to Queensryche’s Phoenix date.

Wilton has long been known as a player’s player, with his intricate metal playing technique and use of effects fueling Queensryche on to become a multi-platinum rock act. He’s certainly fits the description of “tone freak” and has a taste for fundamental rock tones and effects of the organic, analog nature which is what attracted him to Krank in the first place. The Nineteen80 is his amp of choice but also regularly puts a Rev+ through it’s paces in the studio as well as a Rev Jr. Pro. He uses both the Rev and Nineteen80 cabs as well as a Jr. cab close to him upfront onstage as a personal monitor coming from his rig.

“All the Kranks have very solid, useable tone which is important. I could go to any of them in the studio and get great sounds which isn’t always the case for a lot of amps,” Wilton said while at the shop. “The guys at Krank are doing things the right way, making killer amps while not making them so expensive that players can’t afford to buy them. The Nineteen80 is better than most all boutique amps of the same nature and half the price of them. It’s essentially a three channel head with the footswitchable effects loop and it sounds amazing live. The fact that head is $1299 in a store versus what you get is just incredible.”

Kottak’s “Rock And Roll Forever”, featuring Scorpions drummer James Kottak on guitar and lead vocals as well as his wife Athena on drums (sister of Tommy Lee), hit stores May 14th. Kottak’s punk/gutter rock sound harkens back to the days when rock and roll was actually dangerous and fun, with songs like “Drunk Unkle Pete” and the title track having a boozy swagger missing in a lot of rock music today!
