Also do you have the gain pegged all the way up? That could be part of the problem as that's a very high gain circuit and depending on your guitar pickup output, etc., you could be overgaining the head at that volume level. If it's none of these then there's a chance maybe something is wrong with the head and you would need to contact the tech dept but try those first...
