Here’s a sneak peak at the newest Krank amps in the family, the highly anticipated Nineteen80 series!
Remember those awesome tones heard on so many classic albums of the early ’80’s? And how about all the mods done on the amps that paved the way for the high gain sounds of today? The Nineteen80 is a tip of the hat to all that! Yep that’s right, you’re seeing grill cloth, binding and chickenhead knobs on a Krank. Killer vintage looks make this amp a unique offering in the Krank line. But it’s once you fire one up that you really see what this amp is all about.
For years players have modded their older amps trying to achieve some of the great classic and hard rock tones heard on countless platinum albums during the late 70’s and on through the ’80’s. With the Nineteen80 all the tricks, bells and whistles of the day are already in the amp, giving players a ton of tonal options. Powered by two 6550 power tubes, this two channel 80W head has a sweet midrange roar through it’s matching 13-ply baltic birch 4×12 cab loaded with premium Eminence Governor speakers. You’ll find all the standard Krank features with a 3-band eq, presence, gain. sweep, and volume on the Krank channel, volume, treble and bass on the Clean channel, ohm selector and worldwide voltage switch. But new to a Krank is a tube-driven, footswitchable active effects loop with individual level controls for both the send and return of the loop. And because the loop levels can be controlled an added bonus is you can use the loop as a footswitchable lead boost even without any effects in the loop!
The Nineteen80 series of amps will be available in the full size 80W head and 4×12 cab as well as in the Jr. versions in both 20W and 50W with 1×12’s in the same construction and speakers as the 4×12. And all versions will be available in both black and tan/pepper grill cloth.
Be looking for the Nineteen80 to be on the market the end of July/early August!

WOOHOO!!!!
LOVE the black lettered badge… please tell me your going to sell them in the store…
I cannot wait to get my hands on one of these! Proper grill cloth and footswitchable fx loop, brilliant!
I want it bad!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I’m waiting for one of these bad boys…I wonder if we can get it with the chrome grille.
FYI to answer your question yes if you want you will be able to order this with a chrome grill!
You had me at CHICKEN HEAD knobs!!
Hey – Maybe we can use this page as the defacto forum until the new one is up…..
What’s up guys?
New Strat body shipped yesterday.
I played straight in last night, some warranty repairs being done on my pedal board. The Rev sounded great, we don’t need no stinkin’ pedals…
What’s going on with y’all?
I’ve got myself some burgundy/wine bronco and some tan jute which is now waiting for one of these!
All I need now is some $$$ for this one! :)
Just a heads up if you all didn’t see, we updated the article to include a teaser sample of the lead tone on the amp!
Wow! That’s ‘Flirtin’ With Disaster’ all the way……
that’s the lead sound where chicks start flashing their tits.
I think my new rig is gonna consist of one or two of the following cabs from Krank: Rev, Rev SST, Krankenstein, or the new Nineteen80’s w/ a chrome grill. That just made my decision that little bit harder… thanks. :D
A chrome grill on the nineteen80? Eeeeeeew thats like putting a set of ‘blinging’ gold teeth in your grandma. Jute me up!
this is awesome when does it come out
Yeah the Nineteen80 is a very cool amp…you should see it in stores the middle of September!
I used this rig (yes the one in the photo) at a gig at the Marquee in Tempe
on Saturday night.
It sounded amazing!
I love this amps!
Patrick
How much do they run for?
The head runs $1299 and the cab $799!
Hello, this amp looks cool, but I want to know if I can buy the krank logos from this for my Krankenstien + and Cabinet?
thanks!
C
it’ll be in the Krank Store sometime in the future
All the logos are available on our webstore!
Hello Catero,
Will the 20w head and cab be available in mid September as well? Thanks
Yes all the Nineteen80 versions are planned for release about the same time…
Can I pull off some Van Halen on this thing? How much Gain?
Actually man pull out your Phase90 and this thing does old Van Halen really well! I was listening to our chief designer playing “Ain’t Talkin’ Bout Love” on it and at first I thought he was just cranking up his stereo! It’s a pretty damn cool head…
Wow! Its past mid-September and still no Nineteen80! ?? The anticipation is killing me! I can’t wait!
Man…tell me this amp gets as much gain or more as a Marshall Mode 4?Will it feel the need for all types of metal as well? Jrod!?!
Hey man if you’re looking at comparing something to a Mode 4 check out the SST instead. The SST is a hybrid amp and quite a bit more articulate than the Mode 4 being in the same realm and will definitely fill the need in any metal situation. The Ninteen80 is more like a hotrodded 800 kind of vibe, not quite as a high a gain structure…
Any updates on release??
Yes there are, looks like solidly 3 weeks and they’ll be shipping, we’re taking preorders from dealers right now!
OK…just discovering this now. We have added the Nineteen80 into the mix. I need to buy around christmas. I play mostly rock and classic rock (AC/DC, Led Zep, Van Halen) but also throw in some Metallica. what is better for this…the Nineteen80 Jr. or the Rev Jr Pro?? What one had a better/Cleaner KLEEN channel?
Well the answer here is actually both, as they both sound great for the styles you mentioned but the Rev Jr. Pro does have more gain to go full on Metallica….and as of right now the Nineteen80 Jr. is probably going to be coming out closer to Christmas as it will be launched a month or so after the full size Nineteen80 head, don’t know if timing plays into your decision…
anyone here getting a good Led Zep tone from these? I am having a hard time finding it without going to a Marshall 1/2 or Orange. I DO NOT wantto go that route. Too big, too expensive…NOT NECESSARY!
No one getting that tone from these…yet! The amp hasn’t started shipping yet but is getting ready to…
I guess the chadwick would work but I want to keep this small….guess we need a Chadwick JR!
Sorry man, the Chadwick has been discontinued so don’t hold your breath for the Chadwick Jr. lol…
I know. I am going to get to try a Rev Jr at one of the dealers next week. He also stated he just ordered a nineteen80 too.
Are their any KRANK user forums?
Yeah actually go onto the home page and look up in the header bar under “Forums” and it will take you to it!
want it!
I hope it has a allot more gain than in this example.
Oh it does! LOTS more…that was just a little teaser sample we had. We’ll be posting up new sound samples after the beginning of the year!
