The Rev Jr. Pro line of small but powerful lower wattage tube amplifiers is one of the most popular amps Krank has made to date. Expanding on the original Rev Jr., The versatile 20W and 50W versions are footswitchable and have the added features of treble and bass controls on the Kleen channel. The Rev Jr. Pro’s circuit is very similar to the 120W Rev + in design and offers the same raging high gain sounds it’s big brother delivers! Features include a 3-band eq, parametric mid-sweep, gain, separate volumes for Krank and Kleen channel, “Boost” button for more drive, active effects loop, ohm selector and voltage selector for worldwide use.
These amps are excellent studio amps as well as being ideal for band rehearsal and club gigging. The matching 1×12 cabs and great for practice as well as miking up nicely in the studio, giving you great separation without the phasing that can accompany miking a 4×12. Also another great choice to match with the 50W head is the Rev SST cab, giving you a high quality gigging rig at an affordable price!!!
- Two channel, footswitchable in either a 20W or 50W version
- Preamp three 12AX7 tubes, power section two Sovtek 5881 tubes
- Krank channel: sweep control, 3 band eq, gain, master, Kleen channel: volume, 2 band eq
- Active effects loop, 8 and 16 ohm selector, worldwide voltage use, footswitch included

will Krank Amps make a 2*12 revolution cab?
Used to make a 2×12 but no longer…
What’s the difference between a Rev Pro Jr and a Krankenstein Jr? They appear identical. Are they voiced differently in some way? Also, where are they built?
Read the comments, this topic has been gone over a couple times but yes there is a difference in gain. And they’re built in Tempe, Az!
Just recieved my 50Watt Rev Pro JR,just waiting on the cabs, will post audio/Video clips ASAP!

Hey I was wanting to ask you guys. I noticed you guys roll Sovtek 5881 tubes in your Rev. Jr 50 watt heads. One of my buddies rolls JJ’s tubes in his various mesa and marshall amps and says that they get alot better clarity than the Sovtek tubes and ive heard his amp to understand what he is talkin about. Would it be safe to roll as JJ 5881 6L6 in the Rev Jr 50 watt head so i could really see what the Krank can do?
Yeah you can try them out in the head as it’s a self-biasing head. JJs are great tubes too, we simply use Sovteks as we’ve found them to not only sound good but also to be a lot more stable than JJ’s from a manufacturing perspective. But hey, give ‘em a whirl!
can this thing do thrash metal?
Can James Hetfield play monster rhythm guitar? LOL! Yep the little Jr.s can thrash with the best of them if that’s what you want it to do…
When will Krank amps have a new dealer in germany? Currently, there is no chance for me to test one of these 50Watt babies.
We’re in the middle of fulfilling a big order for Germany, hopefully you will be able to by early summer!
does this amp include a cable to attach the head and cab if i buy the 20watt half stack
No it doesn’t come with speaker cables but you can easily get those from any music dealer…and probably for free if you buy it from a dealer versus online!
Sorry that was a question I meant if I buy the head and cab together from musiciansfreind.com does it include a cable to attach the head and cab?
I have a wah, flanger and talkbox pedal I was wondering if i could run the flanger in front of the amp rather than the loop would this work?
Yeah absolutely!
Thanks for answering me question about the flanger but would it aound better if I ran it through the loop? if so how much better?
With flangers there’s a wisdom that says they sound better before the preamp versus being in the loop…BUT all of this is subjective! It’s not wrong to put it in the loop, try it both ways and whatever sounds best to you go with it! It’s all about what sounds good to your ears…
Get these babies to India!!!
Cant wait to get one, shipping one is killin it!!
Please get hold of a distributor here :)
In your opinion, which is better for playing Metallica: the Rev Jr Pro 20 watt or the Krankenstein Jr 20 watt? im thinking of the ride the lightning/kill em all era…but if one of them can also do the black/load/reload era sound, that would be great too know as well. Thanks
Go for the Krankenstein Jr. tho in all honesty the Rev Jr. pro will handle the job as well! It’s just the Krankenstein Jr. has a little more gain if that’s what you want tho both are deff high gain…
Thanks for the quick response! I’m still kinda torn…I realized that two other tones I love (aside from Metallica’s) are both through kranks, albeit different ones… Brendan Small of Dethklok played a Rev on the first Dethalbum, so the rev jr seems like a good choice, plus ive heard its more versatile. But I also love Amon Amarth’s tone (especially in the song Varyags of Miklagaard), but they’re using Krankensteins (although the bigger bro), so the Krank Jr looks good too…Thusly, I am faced with a hard decision…choosing between these two great amps. lol. I’m gonna make my decision within the next couple days. Any other thoughts or comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
Ha decisions, decisions! Either way you go I think you will be happy!
Hi, ther’ s some dealer in italy?
I wont by one but your dealer indicate in your web told
me they’ re not more your dealer.
Canu you replay me
Tanks
assuming I could find some EL34s that are short enough, is it ok to use them in my Rev Jr Pro 20?
Yes you could…basically if it fits in the headbox you can use it, if not you can’t!
Hey, I’ve got a Rev Jr standard, I was wondering if the pro sounds tonally different and how? I’ve heard that it does but there’s no mention of that here. I’m also wondering how much louder the 50 watt is, like master volume at noon on the 20 is comparable to what on the 50? I might be in the market for a new krank micro head and I’m just trying to get all the details :)
Hey Brandon yes they do sound little different as the circuit design is a little varied. The Standard has a little browner midrange tone while the Pro is pretty much the Rev+ in small form. Both sound cool, it’s just a little different flavor… As far as the wattage the 50W version deff is louder with more headroom. I’d say the noon position on a 20W is around the 2 1/ or 3 on the 50W, etc.

how much would the 50 watt krankenstien jr. and two 1×12’s be.
also were are the dealers for canada
In Canada give our distro Intellimix a shout, 888-MIX-4YOU and they can clue you in as to where the closest dealer is!
Hi, how can I identify if my Krank Rev Jr Pro has the Mosfet version or the tube driven version of the effects loop? The serial number is 91062. Thanks.
It’s actually very easy to tell: The tube loop version has five preamp tubes, the mosfet version four…
I’ve played just about every high end Mesa Boogie and Marshall there is, and this amp blows them all away! Especially love the tight bass response.
Also, I’m looking to use my Rev Jr Pro 50 overseas with 240V power, which kind of fuse would I have to install in the amp? Thanks!
Hey cool to hear the amp is killing for you!!! As far as euro power look on the back of the amp at the fuse holder and it will tell you the exact fuse on that amp for 240V!
can these amps handle low-end kind of stuff? i have a 7string and im looking for an amp that can get lots of booming low-end but also get cutting leads. If not this amp, which of your amps would be best-recommended?
Well the Jrs deff can handle the low end of a 7 string and can cut for leads, it just depends on what you’re looking at the Jr for: a more price friendly amp, or as an at-home type amp, or a gigging amp. And are you looking to power a cab you already have or are you getting the Jr cabs as well, or getting a 4×12. If you do go with a Jr. go for the 50W for the extra power, if budget isn’t a concern then maybe go for the big head, or even the SST which sounds great with a 7 string…lot of options here man! But realize all the option with Krank should handle your 7 string needs…
Hi, can the Rev Jr. use other brand’s 6L6 tubes? My friend told me that the original poweramp tubes are 5881/6L6WGC Sovtek Tubes, and it’s “short base”. Can other 6L6 tubes be used in this amp? Do there have enough speace for other 6L6 tubes which are not “short base tube” (i.e. JJ 6L6GC)? Thanks.
Basically the rule here with the Jrs are if the tube fits in the headbox it’s ok to use, if it doesn’t it’s not (EL 34’s even if they can fit we wouldn’t recommend either as they can damage the transformers). The JJs you’re mentioning are too tall, basically the 6L6 we use or 6V6s are what we recommend most…So yes there are some limitations on which tubes you can go with…
hi, I’ve leave left a message here but now I can’t see it… Can JJ 6L6GC tube be used in this amp? Is the speace in the amp big enough? My friend told me that the Sovtek 5881/6L6WGC tubes are “short base”, and he guess maybe the speace in this amp is not big enough for the normal 6L6 power tubes(i.e. JJ 6L6GC). Is that correct? Or is there any other 6L6 tubes is able to be use in this amp? thanks!
What gauge of speaker wire would you recommend? 12, 14 etc.
Really the bigger the better but it can get expensive…I’d say any standard speaker cable from a music store will work without you hearing any real signal degradation…
Is the FX loop footswitchable, or just the channel?
Just the channel on these amps. The Nineteen80 has a footswitchable effects loop…
