The Rev Jr. Pro line of small but powerful lower wattage tube amplifiers is one of the most popular amps Krank has made to date. Expanding on the original Rev Jr., The versatile 20W and 50W versions are footswitchable and have the added features of treble and bass controls on the Kleen channel. The Rev Jr. Pro’s circuit is very similar to the 120W Rev + in design and offers the same raging high gain sounds it’s big brother delivers! Features include a 3-band eq, parametric mid-sweep, gain, separate volumes for Krank and Kleen channel, “Boost” button for more drive, active effects loop, ohm selector and voltage selector for worldwide use.
These amps are excellent studio amps as well as being ideal for band rehearsal and club gigging. The matching 1×12 cabs and great for practice as well as miking up nicely in the studio, giving you great separation without the phasing that can accompany miking a 4×12. Also another great choice to match with the 50W head is the Rev SST cab, giving you a high quality gigging rig at an affordable price!!!
- Two channel, footswitchable in either a 20W or 50W version
- Preamp three 12AX7 tubes, power section two Sovtek 5881 tubes
- Krank channel: sweep control, 3 band eq, gain, master, Kleen channel: volume, 2 band eq
- Active effects loop, 8 and 16 ohm selector, worldwide voltage use, footswitch included
Rev Jr. Pro semi dirty by producer Chuck Alkazian

KRANK GEAR USED: Rev+, Rev Cab, Krankenstein+, Krankenstein Cab, Nineteen80, Nineteen80 Cab, Krankenstein Jr.
Baptized by the music of AC/DC, Van...
Does it include a footswitch?
Yep, comes with a footswitch…
I’m playing a Vigier Supra with Dimarzio Tone Zone in bridge position, i think it’s definitely the best lower wattage high gain amp i ever heard: “Kleen” stay clean and the dirty channel give you an incredible amouth of gain and control, you can go for dark fat rythm crunchy tones to heavy mid-scoop death metal sound setting. Very versatile!
What Ohm speaker cabs will the Rev jr pro 50 handle?. Also what is your warranty on your products?
The Rev Jr. Pro 50W has both 16 and 8 ohm setting on the back fyi. And our warranty is a good one – limited lifetime for the original owner and covers all the parts on the amp minus tubes and fuses (common wear items) and user damage. So for example if you had a problem with a transformer or cap going bad per se, it would be covered!
I went to go buy a Rev jr pro 50 watt version this weekend and the salesman said it was a 50 watt but it did not have the 50 on the front grille. Is there a way to tell between the 50w and 20w like cosmetically or less power tubes or something. Either way it was one of the best sounding amps I have ever played.
Yeah the best way to tell the difference cosmetically between the 20W and 50W is the size of the transformers…the 50W is much taller! And we’re always glad to hear when someone is totally diggin’ the sounds they’re getting out these amps!!!
how does this amp compare to the krankenstein?
I’m assuming you’re meaning how does it compare to the Krankenstein Jr… Basically it’s kind of the same difference as the comparison of the full size Rev+ and Krankenstein+ with the Krankenstein Jr. having a little more gain and the eq being voiced just a bit differently. The Rev Jr. Pro is probably more versatile as it can easily mesh into a lot of different styles of music while the Krankenstein Jr. has more of that metal, “grab you by the throat” thing going on… So it depends on what you’re really looking for…but both are great little amps!
ok, i play a lot of metal but i want the rev jr. pro 50 because its supposed to have more versatility and nicer cleans than the krankenstein…
however, does the rev jr pro 50 need to be pushed to get those extremely high gain metal tones that im also looking for?
On the Rev Jr. Pro 50W you will still get the high gain sounds no problem. Now I think the cleans on the Krankenstein Jr. are actually pretty cool too but yes the clean tone has a bit more break than the Rev Jr. Pro…
Can you tell if it is a 50 watt by the serial number cause they only have the one head there and there’s nothing to compare it to as far as the size of the transformers.
Well the majority of the heads have an “F” in the serial number BUT there were some early ones that went out to stores that didn’t have that in the number. Really tho the sure fire way to tell is the tallest transformer in it if it’s a 50W would only be about an inch from the top of the headbox versus the 20W where the transformer is 3-4 inches under it…
Well I made the purchase and the it was a 50 watt and the gap from the top of the transformer to the top of cabinet was an inch. All I have to say is this thing kills the Marshall Dsl 100 watt head that I just got rid of. Krank is the best.
Oh cool man, glad you dig the amp!!!!!!
I noticed the jr doesnt have a standby switch, is there a way to set the amp to standby.
Basically because of the type of circuit used in the power section of the amp (being a low wattage, fixed bias setup) it wasn’t necessary which also left us with more room on the chassis for more tone shaping controls…bigger amps with higher voltages need the standby as running high voltage on a cold circuit will really cause wear and tear. On smaller, lower voltage amps the less need there is for one and there are many amps out there without a standby. Also as a suggestion tho for those who like to use the standby switch on amps as a mute when they walk away from the amp for a moment, you can always pull the cord halfway out to the same effect, that’s a little trick our main tech Patrick Flanagan suggests and uses as he busily gigs out every weekend with his Jr.!
i’m aiming at getting a 50w rev jnr pto for a studio i’m setting up over in France
do you guys have any offers as to rates? knowing that i gig a fair amount and obviously show the brilliant amp off to the people who record! good publicity
amazing sounding amp anyway

C’mon Chris, I need a 1980 JR and a DirtyValve 210 Combo!!
;-D
Hey, can you tell me the weight and dimensions of both the 20 and the 50? The combination of a bad back and moving to nyc means I need something small that still rocks!
Well then this is definitely the amp for you if you’re in NYC and have a bad back! The dims on the head are 15 1/2″ x 7 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and the 20W is a little over 20 lbs., the 50W around 25 lbs. It’s very easy to carry around and is ideal for places like NYC where portability counts, and those amps certainly rock!
Hey Catero, when are these going to be available in a 1×12 Combo? Got a couple friends looking at small tube combo amps.
Thanks
Right now there’s no concrete plans to put the Jr. heads in a combo form but we have talked about it so maybe we’ll take a harder look at it this coming year-
I agree that a combo would be nice…
is this compatible with most cabs like mesa/boogie
Yeah they’re compatible with just about any cab!
hey another question would it be loud enought with 1×12 cab to play with a drummer?
Depending on how loud your drummer plays I would say it’s possible to play with just one cab, having both cabs definitely…
and that would be the 50 watt or 20 becouse im looking for amp that is awesome with overdrive but im a full time student so im not made of money and i love the crank sound so the 50 with ur double 1×12 cabs should work or would a 20 safice?
i have a recording studio which bands use 2 reherse and record and one of the amps i have is a rev jr 20 watt running thru a 1×12 krank cab, a local pop punk band that use the studio often use this amp on occasion and it copes with there drummer fine he has a basic 5 piece kit and doesnt play to loudly, My son uses this amp all the time as his amp when his band plays and records and there drummer has a larger kit and really hammers the shit out of his drums, it still copes well but and could probably do small gigs with it but my son is going to get another 1×12 cab and see how that fairs in his band but from what he is running atm you should be fine as long as your drummer isnt mega loud
is this head compatible with you rev sst 4×12 cab?
Absolutely compatible and actually a killer choice to pair up with the Jr. heads! We had sent an SST cab to Guitar Player magazine when they recently did the review of the Krankenstein Jr. for their metal amp shootout and they thought it was an awesome 4×12 to pair up as well. I’m hoping to get some sound samples of that pairing up on the website within the month!
Ive had this for a while with the 20w head, and it honestly one of the best sounding high gain amps i have played i prefer it over my old ENGL it kicks some serious ass and the cab sounds great as well.
ive had this amp probably a year and use it everyday at about 1-2 on the4 volume and when i reherse its on about 5. recently i have noticed that it sounds over distorted very trebley and pretty nasty, my settings have not changed at all i am wondering if the speaker on the cab has gone or there is a problem with the amp i really want to know what i can do so i can get it back to sounding amazing.
Well I’m glad to hear you’ve had a good go with the Jr.! As far as to what the problem is it may be as simple as needing a full tube change, especially if you play it a lot as you were saying. I’d also hit up our chief tech Patrick here, choose the “Technical Services” option and see what he says!
thanks for yourhelp i forgot to check the tubes, was not very clever of me if this probelm continues after new set of tubes ill contact the tech thanks for your help
sup!
when will the “krank rev jr pro 50″ amp be available in europe?
thx!
We’re working on getting our distributors there supplied, some we’re waiting on confirmed orders…hopefully soon!
I just bought a krank rev jr pro 20w from music123. There was no manual in the box. Where can I get the manual – is it available online?
Hey Josh we’re updating right now, look for it up on the website hopefully in the next couple weeks! Any q’s on it tho just let me know, I’m happy to help ya out-
Yo Chris, thanks again for the ” Beyond Eleven” info. I talked with them yesterday. When will the ” Classic” version of the Rev Jr. Pro be available? I would imagine it to be a little warmer and vintage sounding?
No sweat helping you out! What you’re talking about is the Nineteen80 Jr. which will be becoming available next month it looks like. Yes that’s a little more vintage sounding while still having a good amount of get up and go if that’s what you want it to do!
How does the Rev Jr take to pedals?
Sounds great with pedals! The Jr. heads will interact very well with most all pedals you throw at it :)
A lot of the hi-gain amps from many different brands need a TS9 (or something like it) in front of them to tighten up the low end. Do Kranks benefit from this technique also? Or are they tight already?
You’re going to find the Krank to be pretty damn tight in the low end all by itself. Part of that is because of the Sweep knob allowing you to dial in frequencies. Actually when putting some kind of overdrive pedal in front of an amp you’re typically trying to achieve more gain (maybe for soloing, etc.) and can actually lose low end depending on which pedal you use. Having said that overdrives play well with the Kranks too if you like going for that sound and really retain the low end…
hey, can i use my two 8 ohm cabs with the krank rev jr plus 50?
thanks.
Yes absolutely you can use two 8 ohms cabs. Just set the amp on the 8 ohm setting and you will be fine even tho you will be running at 4 ohms, the amp was made to be able to handle that as well!
Just picked up the Rev Jr. 50 and a couple of 1×12 cabs…Question: Is there different variations of the cabs specifically designed for 20 or 50 watts? Or are all Rev Jr. cabs the same?
All the cabs are the same! Coming out soon tho will be the baltic birch Nineteen80 Jr. cab which will sound different…
Will a single Rev Jr cab (1×12) handle a 50 watt Rev Jr Pro head?
Yes it sure will! That speaker is a 120W Legend V12 so you cab run a full size head thru it which many guys do, especially in the studio or as a personal stage monitor…
thanks. I am going back and fourth on a 50W or 20W. My playing is mostly limited to the basement with my band or a small club and I am concerned about the power of the 20W. Would i have problems in a SMALL club, un-miced with 20W combo?
I’m totally picking up the 50w Rev jr pro. I’ve been looking to have a setup thats compact and can pump the gain out. I was shooting for the 20w version before I knew about the 50w version but I figure lets go the extra mile for the next step up. I’m very sure this will rival my framus cobra top amp in many ways. God Bless Krank and God bless Dime!!!
Hey that amp will do exactly what you’re thinking it will do, you’ll definitely dig it!!!
Hi!
I’ve just bought a Rev Jr. Pro 20 Head. I’m from Chile, and I want to change the fuse in order to power mi amp. The amp has a 4A fuse. If I want to power my amp with 210-220 V, do I have to replace de 4A fuse with a 2A fuse? That’s right?
What else I need to do?
Thanks!
Hey Damien the Rev Jr. Pro 20W at the 230V setting should have a 1A f-style fuse! And make sure you put the ohm selector switch on the back on that setting as well! Enjoy the amp man!
Thanks, Chris!
=)
Finally received my head, sounds killer… LOUD AS SH*T!!! I am only using one of the two 1×12 cabs. I’m a complete idiot when it comes to impedence ohms and speaker cabs… The head never came with any kind of manual so how am I supposed to hook up both cabs? I’d rather ask the pros, then ruin my brand new amp!
Hey man glad you’re lovin’ the amp! And no prob on asking q’s to give you peace of mind on how things work. Basically if you’re running one cab at 16 0hms simply set the amp to that same setting. If you run two cabs then set the ohm selector to 8 ohms. The rule here is whenever you’re running two cabs of the same ohms (which ideally should always be the case with all tube amps) you’re basically halving the ohms (and in layman’s terms increasing the power/volume essentially) coming from your amp. That’s why it sounds louder on a lower ohm setting. So if you run two 16 ohm cabs, it’s set at 8 ohms, if two 8 ohm cabs then set it at 4 ohms and so on. And the manual for the Rev Jr. pros btw is being revamped and will be posted up on the site soon!
quick question. ok so on the back of the head of a rev jr pro 50, theres a fx send and return.and on the front there the input. mainly on foot pedals u plug into input to the foot pedal to a guitar easy. well i got a line 6 x3 live foot pedal and on the back of it , it has a send and return left/right. ??? i plug the head send/return into the pedal and nothing then i plug the head input into live out l/mono on the foot pedal. is that it ??? just wondering cause theres that fx send / return on both things just wondering when i would use them if they dont work in this situation
You should be able to use the fx loop on the Rev Jr. Pro 50 no problem with that Line 6 processor hooking up the sends and returns in the typical manner. However I’m assuming that’s a Pod X3 you’re referring to and you should try running any overdrive/distortion patches in the loop, just things live delay, etc. If you aren’t sure how to hook up and effects loop google it, there is a lot of info on the net regarding this!
Hi! I am interested in getting a Rev 50 or possibly a krankenstein 50. I play a sevensting guitar. Will it be able to handle the extra lowend? When will these amps be available? I normally buy from American Music supply. They only carry a few Krank products. Is there any way you can convince them to carry a rev jr 50 and krankensteinjr 50? I would really appreciate it! Thanks
Absolutely they’ll handle 7 strings, sounds very kickass! As far as buying thru AMS call up or shoot them an e-mail and request the gear, they’ll probably order it for you!
Thanks for answering my question so quickly! Will the 50 watt version be loud enough to power most cabs? Which head would be better for a meshuggah style of music? The rev or the krankenstein?
Actually both heads power a 4×12 pretty easily, the 50W just has more juju to really “go there” volume-wise so to speak. But of you’re really into the more heavy kind of sound it would probably be the Krankenstein version tho both are gain monsters…
Ok, so I finally got the Rev jr pro 50 with a 1 x 12 cab. I was wondering about the effects loop on it. I had heard stories that you can put a patch cable (no pedals) in the send and return just to complete the loop to take advantage of the fx volume nob for more gain at bedroom volumes. Is that bad for the amp in any way?
Yes you can do that trick and no it’s not harmful to the amp at all!
Ok i bought a Krank Rev Jr. Pro 50 and since you all didnt leave me a manual i started assuming that it was ok to leave the head on 16 ohms when playing w. two cabinents. Since i have done that for the past 4 months ive had it. I need to know the kind of damage i have done to my speakers or amp head itself. I love this amp and its the staple in my bands sound w. the guitar end. That and its proven quite tough through the moving it back and forth to practice and home. I pray to god that i dont have to replace a bunch of stuff like the speakers and such
Hey Brandon don’t sweat the fact you’ve left it on 16 ohms, you’ve just been running it underpowered so to speak. Those amps are very tough and durable and while it’s ideal to run a head at the correct ohms in this instance you weren’t causing any harm so you’re all good :) I don think now that you’ll be running it at 8 ohms you will find it sounds even better!
Whew thank god! I was wondering why it was a struggle to get volume lol. but anyway thank you for the reply im finding it to sound much better at 8 ohms lol. The other guitarist in my band is upgrading this christmas to a new amp and i told him one thing. GET A KRANK!!!!. Ode To Blood is using Krank Amps all the way and I cant wait to get my next one!
Awesome man, glad to hear that worked out for you! And we always like to hear about the bands spreading the word on Krank!!! :)
I have ordered a Krank Rev Jr. Pro 20w from US. And I have to run it with local voltage 240V. What kind of fuse do I need to change ?
That should be a 1A fuse for that amp…
what is the dimension of the fuse ? longer or shorter ?
It will be a 1A F style fuse…if you’re ordering it or going to an electronics store to find one if you tell the customer service person that they will know what you need!
How is the bottom end on the Rev jr 50 watt head? I recently sold my 6505+ head. It was great, but I wanted a head that I could carry around without breaking my back. I dont want to lose tone or “BAWLZ”. I play out in small clubs to 2xs a week Mostly mic’d but sometimes not. I play through a 412 cab in a metal band. Also, I noticed how close he tubes are, does this create heat issues?
Oh you won’t lack any BAWLZ with the Rev Jr. Pro 50W head! It has way tighter lowend than the 6505+ you had and really will be ideal for the gigging situation you described. And no the tube placement doesn’t create any heat issues at all. In the almost 3 years we’ve been making Jr. amps we’ve never once had any customer or tech call us with an issue regarding that so I think that should speak for itself on that!
Can I use TungSol 5881 power tubes for Jr.Pro 20W or 50W ?
Yep you can!!!!
At bedroom volumes does the 20watt Rev jr have any advantage soundwise on the gain channel to the 50 watt Rev jr. -or do they both sound basically the same at lower volumes?
Thanks
The 20W version may have a little more juju at lower volumes simply by virtue of being able to push it a little harder at a comparable volume but both sound great at practice levels…
Dude- I went with the 50watt rev jr pro and am mega impressed!! The tone is amazing IMO. I am using a V30 loaded cab and couldn’t be more pleased after my first sitdown with the amp. This thing will melt off your face when Kranked a bit. It has all the gain you could want and more. Even with the gain up high the notes have clarity and it doesn’t get fizzy. Kleen channel sounded very good as well. Awsome amp!
Killer man! Yeah that amp is one bad little dude…!
Hello , was interested in the Pro Jr. 50 watt. I dont play metal or even heavy rock. When i use overdrive , I like just light OD w/ a lot of sustain so when I dig in it growls a little. I mostly play blues , rock and R&B. I have a blackheart sealed cab w/ an eminence 150 watt swamp thang speaker. I like to use a compressor and reverb mostly. Does this sound like an amp for me? Also ,I wondered how the mids are on the clean channel? Is it true no bias is needed for tube swaps? Is there a 4 ohm speaker port for 2 8 ohm cabs? Thanx , Eric
Hey Eric honestly I think from what you describe you will be more happy with a Nineteen80 Jr. which will be out on the market in January. That comes in 20W and 50W versions same as the other heads and will probably have more of the gain structure you like. The Rev Jr. Pro is an awesome amp but it is definitely a high gain amp and while it will clean up like you might want it to it really is a “let the fur fly” amp. Having said that the mids and clean are great on that amp and you may want to test drive one if you can in your area. But if you’re not in a huge hurry wait until next month and look to the Nineteen80 Jr….
Hey i have a 50 pro comin to me soon. My cab is an 4×12 8 ohm mono cab. should i run the amp at 8 ohms or what to get the best results? thanks
Yep it’s always best to match the ohms if possible so run it at 8 ohms!
Hey, I just bought a Rev Jr 50w half stack and I’m wondering why it sounds to twangy when I play alternate picking parts. I’ve tried turning the sweep down to about 2 or 3 and turning the bass up to 8 or 9, but it still seems to have a Tele style twang through all the distortion. I’ve also tried scooping the mids. I’m going for a heavy death metal/metalcore sound, but this thin/twangy sound is bothering me. I’ve tried turning the volume up to 3 or 4 as well. This is also my first tube amp, so could have something to do with how hard a picking? I’ve always thought hard picking is good for metal. Could it be that I need new tubes already? Anyway, I need to some advice because I’m very confused.
Hey Kevin well I’m not sure why it’s sounding twangy…what guitar are you using? Tube amps can have a bit more “twang” to them I guess when compared to solid state but I’m thinking it’s a setup issue between guitar and amp, and yes your picking can be part of the issue. You may be used to picking the guitar further back to cleanly perform alternate picking techniques and on the tube amp the further back toward the bridge you play the more “twang” you could hear.
I’m just speculating here but if your previous amp was a modeling amp going to a full tube amp will certainly be an adjustment to how you pick and play. You said it’s mainly when you alternate pick that you hear it? Well if you’re use to a solid state or modeling amp they are way more forgiving and satin-sounding BUT don’t have the harmonic depth of the real tube heads they’re emulating. Also seeing as you’re into extreme metal it could be the amp is a little “cleaner” sounding then what you’ve been used to… So when you first go to a full tube amp I see a lot of players having a difficult time adjusting their playing but ultimately it’s worth the extra practice to get there in the long run… Having said that I’m not ruling out that you could possibly have a slightly microphonic preamp tube that may make it sound a little “ringy” at times (forgive me if putting things too much in layman’s terms here but the preamp tubes are the smaller ones if you’re not familiar with tubes) but I doubt it needs to be fully retubed. What you can try to do is CAREFULLY AND GENTLY pull out the preamp tube that is shielded with the silver cap and switch positions with one of the other preamp tubes and see if that makes a difference. Be sure to line up the pins on the tube the correct way with the tube socket as well as you don’t want to break the tube or break something off in the tube socket a then you would have to send it back in for repair! We see a lot of damage from users not replacing tubes correctly so I have to mention that!
Anyway if you still are getting too twangy a sound feel free to call in to the tech line and speak with a tech…
so i dont need to bias the tubes if i change em out? im familiar with the dirrernce between EL34s and 6L6s my question is being its a 50watt head should i use El34s or EL84s same qustion with 6L6s or 6V6s? also do preamp tubes make that much of a difference as well? thanks
It’s a fixed bias head so no you don’t have to rebias when changing tubes out… The EL 34s, 84s and 6L6s are all going to be physically too big for the headbox however 6V6s are fine tho I think personally the 5881s we put in them sound the best! And yeah preamp tubes certainly make a difference for sure. We use nothing but high grade Ruby tubes but you can deff experiment with different variations if you like to tinker that way!
Hey, im in the market for a new amp and the krank rev jr pro is everything that i was looking for. I have a peavey valveking 112 but the bass is a little flubby and the gain is a mellowed out over the years. The question is, how big of a volume difference is the 20watt from the 50watt? I play only at home and because of the neighborhood i live in i can crank my amp up loud and no one comes nocking at my door telling me its to loud, and thats with my 50watt valveking through a 2×12 cab i built with eminence v12 legends.
Well there is deff a volume difference but both can get very loud! The 50W obviously has the nod here but if you’re just playing at home you might like to 20W a little more as you can push it a little harder for more break. If you need that extra volume push then I’d say the 50W…
Looking at ditching rack gear for my guitar tones and looking at one of the 50w Rev Jr. Pro heads to gig with (play small to midsized clubs)
Couple of questions 1) does the boost also increase the volume of the amp 2) have you considered a rack mount version of theses heads (or maybe a rack mount kit). Want to get away from a seperate preamp/power amp for guitar tone but it’d still be noce to be able to stick one of these in a rack.
Hey man yes the fx boost does increase the volume level and no we don’t have any plans to do a rackmounted version right now…but maybe in the future!
REV JR PRO 50 QUESTION- Hey not tryin to be a pain but I really need to know the assignment of the three preamp tubes in the front of the amp and the two preamp tubes in the back of the amp next to the power tubes. I tried to email tech and tried the KRANK forum but got no reply-prolly because of the holidays and all
I would really appreciate some help on this because my amp came with a microphonic tube and I wanna replace it.
Hello, I’ve recently purchased and 20 watt Rev Pro Jr. I run the clean channel with a tube screamer for blues and lighter rock and the Krank channel for the more modern music we play. The question I have is: After playing for about an hour the amp is extremely hot. I know that the circuit, tube and xformer layout are compacted compared to normal sized heads. I own a Mesa Triple rectifier and have played it 5-7 hours and it gets nowhere near as hot as this guy! Is this normal? I’m know a fair amount about amps and feel that it shouldn’t be that hot. Thanks
Zane
I reckon it’s because you’re pushing the amp to the Mesa’s level in volume that the amp is getting hot.
Most likely man…
ok its a full stack(2 krank 16 ohm 1/12 cabs) if there both hook into the amp (each has its own cord to the head) should it be set to 8 or 16 ohms??
this is my first tube amp (fucking sounds sweet btw) that being the head gets warm is that normal???
ok last ? i have a floor pod and a mxr full bore metal pedal there inline from my guitar to my amp. should i have it pluged in to the guitar input or the fx input
Glad you like the stack man! When running both cabs you should set it at 8 ohms (remember the rule of thumb is if you double the cab load you would half the ohms – two 16 ohm cabs = 8 ohm amp setting, two 8 ohm cabs = 4 ohm amp setting, etc.). Yes the head will get warm as tubes get hot, don’t touch them btw until after they’ve cooled! And when running the MXR Full Bore Metal you deff want to run in before the amp and not in the loop, same with the POD if you’re using any of it’s distortion settings. Any kind of gain/overdrive/distortion effects should always go before the amp while time-based effects like delay, etc. will generally sound better in the loop tho you can certainly run them before the amp as well, they’re just noisier and not as clean…
I have a pair of Swamp Thang’s in my 2×12. Have you ever tried the REV JR PLUS 50 through those speakers?
We’ve had Swamp Thing speakers in here and they’re cool but we’ve never used them in the Jr cabs…I’m sure they’d sound good tho!
Hi,
Just wanted to check in to say how fabulous the Rev Pro Junior 50W is, I received it a few months ago ( wasn’t easy at all, as I live in France and the process is quite difficult, anyway), it’s a killer amp, I LOVE IT!!! Congrats for making such a great amp, long live KRANK !
How well will a 20 watt rev jr drive a 4×12 cab?
Surprisingly well actually! Really 20 tube watts is nothing to snivel at so it does pretty well, even with our big more powerful cabs. Ideally I think for club gigging in a loud rock band the Rev Jr. Pro 50W is a little better for stage volume but hey I know a few people using the 20W and have no issues so…
I’m looking to get into a tube amp for the first time. I’m into smooth, creamy distortion, with lots of gain, and very little “sizzle”. Is this a realistic expectation, and will the Rev Jr. 50W Head get me there? I will be using an overdrive pedal for leads. Thanks
Bill
Yeah this amp can certainly be setup to get a smoother distortion as the presence is very sensitive and can achieve those tones by rolling it off…
why dont krank have any dealerships in Norway? i have been looking at the krank rev. jr pro 50 for several month now but i have to import it from the US! do you know of there are going to be any dealers in Norway soon or ever?
The only place that carries us in Norway is Mario’s Music…
hey i’m @ a crossroads with this amp and the krankenstein jr I’m gonna buy one of them but can’t make up my mind see I love dime and heavy music but some people think that the rev jr pro is more versatile and I like that too. can you tell me something that will make my choice simple like is the krankenstein’s just as versatile or is the kleen channel on the rev better please help me i’m going fucking nuts
Haha well we don’t want you to go nuts! Truth be told you won’t go wrong with either as I think they each are versatile. The Dime has a little more gain but truly you can get a lot of different tones out of them so if you’re a giant Dimebag fan go with the Krankenstein Jr. then!
thanks a ton krankenstein it is! have a heavy metal summer!
Hmmm well I guess it depends on what you’re wanting to do witht he stack. If it’s just for home use then I’d go with the 20W version but if you’re thinking of using it to jam with a band then maybe you might want the 50W to have a little extra volume ju-ju if you need it. The 20W will keep up with a band too depending on how loud the drummer hits fyi… Either way you go tho you’re deff getting great bang for the buck when the bucks are limited!
In a small club you probably wouldn’t have any volume issues. That guy is a loud 20W! But it’s always nice to have a little extra when you need it live…hahaha I know I’m probably not helping here!!!
